On March 6, Pamela Voit, chair of Community Association Institute’s California Legislative Action Committee (CAI-CLAC), received a very special 
delivery… a stuffed Shamu (yes, Sea World’s most famous killer whale) and a note to call CAI CEO Thomas Skiba. She was informed that this year, at the 2013 CAI Annual Conference & Exposition in San Diego (April 17-20, 2013), CAI-CLAC will be honored as the Legislative Action Committee of the Year. CAI National has Legislative Action Committees (LACs) in 30 states, so the competition was tough, and California is honored to have been chosen for this year’s award.
“It was a thrill and honor to receive the news that CLAC will be honored by CAI National for the LAC of the Year award at the upcoming national convention,” Voit said. “CLAC is an amazing group of diverse professionals in the common interest developments industry who continually go beyond normal benchmarks for volunteer participation. Their dedication to issues facing California associations is exceptional.”
CLAC’s immediate past chairman, Dick Pruess, will also be honored at the convention this year.
“Dick Pruess will be acknowledged for his tireless contributions and has earned the coveted Award of 
Excellence in Government and Public Affairs,” Voit said. “As a homeowner representative, he has expended many hours of his personal time to making association living better. Our hats are off to him and his leadership!”
